ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer (CSO), we seek a dynamic and entrepreneurial Partnerships Manager. Your primary responsibility will be to develop and lead our academic partnerships program. This role is crucial in establishing relationships with universities, colleges, and law schools to incorporate the Spellbook product into their curricula. The successful candidate will create this program from scratch, building strong relationships with academic institutions while developing strategies with the product, marketing, and customer success teams to efficiently and cost-effectively onboard students onto our platform.

In addition to managing academic partnerships, as a partner to the Chief Strategy Officer, you will be personally involved in identifying commercial partnerships, evaluating and proposing deals, managing CRM data, and assisting in negotiating and closing deals. After closing, you will help manage the strategic partnership relationship cycle and align our partnership activities with the broader team's plans. The CSO will also assign you special projects to drive improvements across the company.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create and implement a comprehensive strategy for establishing and growing the academic partnerships program, specifically with university and college law programs and law schools worldwide.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders in law programs and law schools, including deans, faculty, and administrative staff, to drive collaboration and mutual success.

  • Work with marketing and sales teams to execute partner programs, events, and sales engagement and build playbooks and collateral to enable academic partners to co-promote effectively.

  • Identify, evaluate, and prioritize strategic academic partnerships and opportunities that enhance our market reach and competitive position within the legal sector.

  • Assist the CSO in finding, evaluating and proposing non-academic partnerships, channel partners and alliances to support business growth.

  • Support the CSO and assist the negotiation process, ensuring agreements align with our strategic goals and financial objectives. Manage contracts and close partnership deals, focusing on creating long-term value for both parties.

  • Work closely with internal teams, including marketing, sales, and product development, to align partnership activities with broader business strategies and ensure that partnerships enhance product offerings and customer experiences.

  • Prepare regular reports on partnership strategy and its impact on the business for senior management. Use data-driven insights to refine partnership strategies and objectives.

  • Maintain all partnership documentation and ensure current renewals, reporting, and commitments to our partners.

  • Develop and implement joint go-to-market initiatives with academic partners to maximize the potential for student and faculty engagement with our platform.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a strategic partnerships or business development role in the tech industry.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, or a related field.

  • Willing to be fully hands-on in doing the hard outbound work necessary to find new partners.

  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful partnership strategies

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including exceptional negotiation and relationship-building skills.

  • A forward-thinker who is adaptive to change and can thrive in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

  • Experience in a high-growth startup environment is desirable.
